Channel 4 series to highlight empty homes

A new television series from Channel 4 is to highlight the large number of empty homes in the UK, and the problems that this can cause both for the 4.5m families waiting for housing, and for those living alongside empty homes. With around 300,000 homes in England standing empty for more than six months, the Government has put forward £100m to tackle the issue, giving councils the option to charge an ‘empty homes premium’ on properties which lay empty for more than two years.
